Savannah Aykol (she/her) is a Counseling Intern working under the Supervision of Elizabeth Campbell, MS, LPC, RPT-S. Savannah provides therapy for children and adolescents experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and who otherwise struggle to keep up with the rhythms of life. She believes everyone is unique in their healing journey and is skilled at tailoring her approach to meet each individual’s needs. When working with children and adolescents, Savannah doesn’t believe therapy should feel like ‘work.’ Savannah’s goal is to create an inviting, warm, and fun place that young folx look forward to coming back to each week, while focusing on building emotional awareness, coping skills, and strategies for emotional regulation.
Background & Experience
Savannah has spent over seven years working alongside children and families across multiple levels of care, including inpatient treatment, outpatient settings, school systems (both public and private), and in-home services. Throughout these roles, she has supported children experiencing anxiety, trauma, behavioral challenges, emotional dysregulation, and family stressors. Across all settings, Savannah’s work focuses on empowering children and caregivers to better understand emotional and behavioral patterns by tapping into their resilience and self-connection.
Play Therapy Approach
Play is a child’s natural language. Savannah helps children safely explore emotions, build coping skills, and process difficult experiences in a way that feels natural to them. She values working closely with caregivers to strengthen attachment, improve communication, and create consistency between therapy and the home. She does this by incorporating age-appropriate Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy-informed strategies blended with Child Centered Play Therapy to help children understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while building emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and confidence.
