Somatic Therapy

While traditional talk therapy focuses on the mind, Somatic Therapy looks at what is happening physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually through the lens of the body.

Medical research has demonstrated the connection between the mind and body.  Additional research has also shown the value of understanding the body’s nervous system and its impact on feelings of safety, mobility, and regulation.

Whether you are experiencing fatigue, feeling stuck or stressed, facing relationship conflicts, or navigating pain or illness, Somatic Therapy can be an entry point into reducing discomfort and stress by building resilience, and creating a stronger sense of clarity and calm.

Somatic Therapy involves strengthening your awareness of the present moment, and bringing compassionate curiosity to body tension, sensations, and gestures. The process includes gentle noticing, dialogue, movement, and/or touch. As you connect and listen to messages carried in your body, you are supported to move with greater ease and freedom in your life.

“Pain (physical and emotional) can be an ally in healing. In the craziness of life, pain is often the wakeup call. Listening to the body helps create an awareness of when you need to stop, change direction, or move differently. In this way, the bodymind connection is an invaluable tool in healing.” Somatic Therapist Brittiney George
