Trauma Art Narrative Therapy
Trauma Art Narrative Therapy (TANT) is a structured, art-based approach developed by Linda Gantt and Louis Tinnin for processing traumatic experiences. The approach uses a carefully sequenced series of drawings to help clients externalize and integrate traumatic memories, supporting healing even when words fall short.
Through directed drawings, clients create a visual narrative of a specific traumatic event—including what came before, the experience itself, and what came after. This externalization, paired with the support of a trained practitioner, helps the brain reorganize fragmented memory into a more coherent, contained story that no longer intrudes in the same way.
TANT can be especially helpful for single-incident trauma, medical trauma, and experiences where words feel insufficient. Our practitioners tailor the pacing and integration of this approach to honor each client’s readiness, safety, and unique healing process.
