Individual and Family Counseling

Children, Tweens and Teens encounter stressors and challenges daily. Carolyn loves to work with these age groups to teach strategies and skills to manage anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, poor self-esteem, and peer conflicts, in the school setting or at home. Therapy sessions can be individual to address the challenges and skills, and/or include parents/guardians to reinforce skills to work on at home, between sessions. Therapy is most successful when clients know their goals, and have support to achieve them.

Behavior Support

Behavior challenges can impact the whole family.  When treating children with behavior challenges, Carolyn works with parents and siblings, offering support and techniques.   Behavior support plans for home and/or school can be key in improving a child’s functioning, relationships, self-esteem, confidence and overall success. Topics to tackle include opening lines of communication, creating healthy boundaries, and setting limits and consequences consistently. Carolyn and also support parents in accessing Special Education support if academic, emotional or behavior concerns qualifies student for supports in school.

New Parent Support

Adjusting to parenthood is a major transition in life, and can bring highs and lows. Pregnancy and becoming a new parent can bring up a lot of feelings that most women (men, too!) experience, but aren’t comfortable addressing openly. It is so important that new parents take time to take care of themselves, so they can be the best parent they can. Carolyn has experience working with women and couples to navigate this exciting, and sometimes difficult, transition.

Adoption Support

Carolyn has a certificate in Adoption from Rutgers University. Adoption can present unique challenges at key points in development for adopted children, their siblings and families. Carolyn can offer support around emotional and/or behavior issues that can affect a child’s typical development.

LPC Clinical Supervision

Carolyn offers clinical supervision for counselors earning hours towards their Licensed Professional Counselor PA state credential, as well as ongoing support for professional counselors.

Moms Club

Mom’s club is a supportive, stress free zone for moms to gather, learn tips tricks and information on topics such as development milestones, managing behaviors, how to promote healthy communication within the family, and to promote wellness for mom. Group meets monthly on Mondays during the day.

Lisa Grant-Feeley, MS, LPC

Lisa-CHF_0810A Licensed Professional Counselor, Lisa Grant-Feeley provides individual, family and couples counseling.

Her graduate program – and experience since then – focuses on children and adolescents, and she always considers the family structure as integral in her work. As the parent of three strong-willed adult children, she is aware of the joy and challenges that come with raising family.

Lisa provides compassionate support in a space free of judgment to help individuals thrive, and couples and families develop healthy, positive interactions.

Therapy for Children

Lisa understands that play is the language children and young adolescents use to best communicate their thoughts and feelings, and as a Licensed Professional Counselor, she utilizes creative and play therapy techniques in order to help her clients feel most comfortable. Lisa works to create a safe space in which her clients can relay distressing experiences openly, actively listening to the needs of each client and working with a targeted plan of action in order to reach a solution.

Explosive Behavior

For children who display explosive behaviors, Lisa works on collaborative problem solving with both the parents and the client to support the development of important skills, such a flexibility, problem solving, emotional regulation, frustration tolerance and social functioning. As children with explosive behavior are often lacking in one or more of these shills, Lisa helps guide them through these practices so when they are faced with a situation that they were once not equipped to manage; they have the skills needed for a more expected response.

ADHD

For children with ADHD or ADHD symptoms, Lisa supports the child and family in understanding these behaviors and learning strategies to manage them proactively.

Therapy for Teens

Lisa has found that with the flood of exposure in social media, many teens have developed a highly self-critical voice that reduces the ability for high self-esteem. This along with the increased level of competitiveness in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities, can often lead to feelings of anxiety and depression.

Learning Self-Compassion

Learning self-compassion can aid in creating a kinder internal voice. Lisa works with clients to help them find this voice, through identifying and exploring each individual’s strengths and empowering self-acceptance. This serves to reduce the stressful, and at times, all-encompassing feelings of self-doubt.

Therapy for Adults

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

In addition to her focus on strengths and collaborative problem solving, Lisa also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT focuses on how we think and what we believe and then helps us gain insight into the impact our thoughts and beliefs have on our feelings and behaviors.

By exploring the way in which our past has helped shape our beliefs and attitudes, new, more constructive patterns of thoughts and behaviors can be learned.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is often practiced in session and used to support the work of CBT to increase the ability to be present in the moment. This helps to create the internal space needed for all change in thoughts and behavior to occur.

Heather Hill, MSS, LCSW

fullsizeoutput_4cfdHeather Hill is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Pennsylvania.

She earned a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Bucknell University and a Masters in Social Work from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.

She has been working with children, adolescents and adults for over 10 years helping them to address a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, parenting and life transitions. She incorporates mindfulness, cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and family systems theories in her approach to clinical work. She is trauma informed, humanistic and holistic in orientation.

Adolescents

Adolescence is a time of great change and many teenagers feel vulnerable and confused. The developmental task of identity formation prompts them to ask themselves the big questions: Who am I? What do I want to be? How do I manage my overwhelming emotions? Heather provides an environment of warmth, acceptance, and safety for teenagers to explore these questions. Heather has extensive experience with a diverse population of teenagers, including LGBTQ and teenagers on the autistic spectrum.

Anxiety and depression

Anxiety and depression are negative mood states that rob a person’s sense of vitality, mission and engagement in life. Using cognitive and mindfulness approaches, Heather works with clients to reveal patterns of thinking and behaving that contribute to anxiety and depression. She is particularly interested in helping clients overcome social isolation and to feel connected to a broader community and sense of meaning.

Parenting

The pressures of parenting in our modern world can be overwhelming to even the most equipped parent. Heather is interested in helping parents manage the work/life balance and social media influences that challenge traditional parenting wisdom. Heather wants to especially support parents who have children with ADHD and parents of multiples.
